Getting into Academic Dress - Online Tutorials

New Online Tutorials announced

For those curious to know more about the basics of academic dress or simply to have a refresher, do sign up for a new series of three online tutorials to be presented early in the New Year by Dr Alex Kerr FBS. The topics to be covered are:

Thursday, 30 January 2025: Introduction; Gowns
Thursday, 27 February 2025: Hoods
Thursday, 20 March 2025: Caps; Academic dress worldwide; Resources for the study of academic dress

All talks will start at 6.30 pm UK time and bookings can be made via the Burgon Website at: https://burgon.org.uk/events

Alex is a former tutor in medieval studies and college administrator. He was the Burgon Society’s Publications Editor from 2003 to 2011, its Secretary from 2011 to 2020 and is currently compiler of the Society’s online bibliography. As he is an expert in technical communication and author of half a dozen articles in Transactions of the Burgon Society, we can be assured of an informative and accessible series of talks by Alex on the principal elements of academic costume. The presentations will be recorded and made available for member and public access later.
