25th Anniversary CONGREGATION

From this summer, the Burgon Society will begin to celebrate 25 years of studying, researching and enjoying academic dress.

Appropriately for our anniversary Congregation, on Saturday, October 11 we will return to Charterhouse, London, the historic setting for the many of the meetings of Society in its early years.

Through the kind help of the former Master of Charterhouse and Burgon Patron, Dr James Thomson FBS, and the present Master Peter Aiers, we will celebrate our Silver Anniversary in the Great Chamber of this 600 years old former Carthusian monastery, and present-day alms-house. The programme for the day is being developed with the help of some founding and long-time Fellows. Details to follow, but for now you can book to attend on the Burgon events page here: https://burgon.org.uk/events

Celebratory drinks and dinner will take place from 6pm on the same day at the nearby Le Café du Marché, the venue of the first Burgon Dinner. See: https://www.cafedumarche.co.uk.

This will be at additional cost, and to help planning we would be grateful if you could book in advance, as places are limited to 35.

We look forward to as many former and subscribing Fellows and Members as possibly joining us for this very special occasion and location.
